A 53-year-old man reported to the Police yesterday afternoon that he received a message on his mobile phone that appeared to come from the Police and stated that an 85 euro fine for driving while using a mobile phone was pending.
The message contained a link that the victim selected and was taken to a JCC page where he entered his bank account details to pay for the call, and then found that 18.500 euros had been transferred from his account.
The Famagusta Regional Administrative Organization is examining it.
