A 28-year-old man was arrested yesterday pursuant to a court warrant pending against him and taken into custody, to facilitate investigations regarding a theft from a car that was committed on 15/6/2026 in the Famagusta district.
A search of the hotel room where he was staying followed, during which electronic devices, wallets, bags, perfumes, car keys and other items were found, which were taken as evidence. When questioned verbally, the 28-year-old was unable to provide satisfactory explanations regarding their origin and possession and was re-arrested for the offense of illegal possession of property.
During the investigation of the case, testimony emerged against the 28-year-old for 12 other cases of car thefts.
He was brought before the Famagusta District Court this morning, which issued an eight-day detention order.
