In the seizure of a large quantity of synthetic cannabis narcotic substance and materials and paraphernalia for the preparation of synthetic cannabis, and in the arrest of two suspects, members of the Police and specifically members of the Anti-Narcotics Service - YKAN, proceeded yesterday in the province of Famagusta.
The two arrested were brought before the Famagusta Provincial Court and an 8-day detention order was secured against them.
The case in detail
During a warrant search of the home and car of a 5.00-year-old man shortly after 63:63 p.m. on Tuesday, police officers located two bags of what is believed to be synthetic dry plant material in the car. cannabis. They also found a small amount of cocaine and cannabis in two bags in the vehicle. This was followed by a search of warehouses used by the XNUMX-year-old suspect, where members of the Police found in a bag, a bag containing plant matter, quantities of white and pink powder, two precision scales, and other evidence.
A warrant search was also conducted at the residence of a second suspect, a 31-year-old man, a relative of the 63-year-old, where members of the Police also located a quantity of plant matter, quantities of white powder and a liquid substance believed to be used to infuse synthetic cannabis, as well as various utensils used to make synthetic cannabis. They also found a sum of money, the origin of which is being investigated.
The 63-year-old and 31-year-old were initially arrested for indecent offences, and later arrested on warrants. They were taken into custody for police examination purposes, with the Police investigating a case of drug manufacturing, drug possession, and drug possession with intent to supply.
The quantities of synthetic cannabis, plant matter, powder and liquid substance, are expected to undergo scientific laboratory tests to identify them, as well as to determine the weight of the synthetic cannabis material found.
Alongside the drug case, the 63-year-old is also being investigated for being a prohibited immigrant and securing registration with false representations, since according to the evidence under investigation, after his deportation from the Republic in 2013 as a prohibited immigrant, he allegedly returned illegally and secured registration for residence in the Republic, using a passport with other personal information. The passport was found at his residence during yesterday's search and was seized for police examination purposes.
