A detention order for a period of 8 days was issued today by the District Court of Famagusta against a 28-year-old man, a resident of Ayia Napa, to facilitate investigations related to an investigated case of nighttime burglary and theft, illegal possession of property, offenses committed on October 31, 2024 in Ayia Napa .
According to the Spokesman of the Famagusta Police Directorate, Steve Theodoulou, "on October 31, 2024, a 49-year-old tourist reported to the TAE Famagusta that on the same day his rental residence in Ayia Napa was broken into and electronic devices, money and various personal items totaling worth 970 Euros".
In the context of the examinations, testimony was obtained that a 28-year-old resident of Ayia Napa is involved in the case "and in an investigation carried out in his house, electronic devices were found, including part of the stolen property, for which he did not give satisfactory explanations as to the legality of the possession and he was arrested for the automatic offense of illegal possession of property", said Mr. Theodoulou.
Against him, said Mr. Theodoulou, "a judicial arrest warrant was secured for the investigated crimes of nighttime housebreaking and theft, illegal possession of property and after he was re-arrested he was brought today before the Famagusta District Court in Paralimni against whom a detention order was secured for 8 days" .
