The Famagusta District Court today issued a five-day detention order against a 32-year-old man, to facilitate Police investigations, regarding an ongoing case of residential burglary and theft in the Famagusta district.
A statement from the Police Communications Branch states that according to a complaint from a resident of a residence, the burglary was committed on Tuesday, July 15, between the hours of 0500 and 0600. An amount of 530 euros was stolen from the residence.
From the police examinations, it is added, "evidence emerged against the 32-year-old."
"A court warrant was issued for his arrest and he was located and arrested shortly before 8:30 on Tuesday evening, by members of the Famagusta Police. The sum of 350 euros was found in his possession," it is added.
It is reported that "when he was located, the 32-year-old was in a state of intoxication, insulted and attacked members of the Police and resisted his arrest."
Today the suspect was brought before the Famagusta District Court, which issued a detention order against him for five days.
The case is being investigated by the Famagusta Police Department.
