Damages to open crops of perishables and potatoes in the Paralimni - Protaras - Ayia Napa triangle were caused by yesterday's rains and hail, said Andreas Karyos, representative of the potato producers and Assistant Provincial of Famagusta.
Mr. Karyos reported that "in the triangle Paralimni - Protaras - Agia Napa the rains were more and there was also hail", which caused damage to the open crops of perishables and potatoes.
He noted that "the Department of Agriculture must immediately visit the area and inform the producers to submit damage declarations".
He expressed the expectation that there would be "more rains especially in the mountains to get water for the fences because we are being destroyed as a place and especially the farmers", as he said.
