Three people, a 29-year-old and two 32-year-olds, were arrested Sunday night in free Famagusta for drug possession.
According to the Police, yesterday around six in the afternoon, members of YKAN put under surveillance a car of a 29-year-old from Sotira, after information that he would be supplying drugs.
During the surveillance and around 20.30 in the evening, the 29-year-old was seen parking his car in an open area by the river Liopetri.
A car with a 32-year-old driver from Avgorou arrived at the spot, who was identified by a member of YKAN, with an unknown man as co-driver, and stopped next to the 29-year-old's vehicle.
When the two cars left the place where they had parked, YKAN members stopped the 29-year-old's vehicle and during a search that followed, a pack of cigarettes was found containing three nylon bags of cocaine weighing about 5 grams.
The drugs were seized as evidence while the 29-year-old was arrested for a self-inflicted crime. With his written consent, the members of YKAN went to his home to conduct an investigation.
Upon their arrival at the house and before they even entered it, the 32-year-old arrived on the scene in his car. A uniformed police officer of ADE Famagusta indicated with a traffic signal to the 32-year-old to stop his vehicle, something he did.
However, while the police officers were pointing out their police IDs, the 32-year-old developed speed to escape, as a result of which he knocked on the driver's door, which was open, a member of YKAN without injuring him.
The car was stopped by members of YKAN who found that the driver was the 32-year-old with a co-driver another 32-year-old from Xylofagou.
During a search of the car, two nylon bags with green dry hemp plant weighing 0,5 grams and the amount of € 3.300 were found, which were received as evidence.
The two 32-year-olds were arrested for a self-inflicted crime and during a search of the homes of the 29-year-old and the 32-year-old from Avgorou, nothing illegal was found.
After the written consent of the 32-year-old from Xylofagou, the members of YKAN conducted a search in his house where a quantity of 0,5 grams of dry cannabis plant material and three grinding mills with traces of dry cannabis plant material were found, which were taken as evidence.
During the interrogation, the three suspects refused to testify, were detained and today are expected to be brought before the District Court of Famagusta for the issuance of detention orders.
The 32-year-old driver of the second vehicle underwent a drug test with a positive result.
The case is being investigated by the Famagusta branch of YKAN.
