The Famagusta Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented yesterday, October 4, 2022, its vision for the development of the free province of Famagusta. The presentation, which bore the title "Strategic plan of development projects for the free province of Famagusta", was essentially about the framework of a strategic plan for the development of projects. The event was attended by MPs, Mayors, Community Leaders and other officials of the free province of Famagusta.
The aim of the presentation was to highlight the axes of development through unused state land and to promote these goals through government services. Some of the axes of development are the development of entrepreneurship, the tourism industry and other sectors of the economy, the strengthening of social and cultural life and the improvement of the well-being of the residents of the entire free province of Famagusta.
At the same time, the presentation aimed to involve the attendees with a discussion regarding the preliminary plan that was presented as well as with placement and quoting of relevant suggestions from their side. A record was made of the opinions that were exchanged so that at the end of the presentation, taking them into account, the Chamber's proposals in question, which frame the strategic development plan, could be finalized.
The presentation of the Strategic Plan was made on behalf of the Chamber by Mr. Kostas Fitiris, member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Fitiris explained that the aim of today's meeting is to present the initial ideas resulting in a comprehensive proposal for development in the next ten years in the free province of Famagusta with the main aim being the well-being of all. He later emphasized that "The collective effort and concentration of forces brings results".
The President of the Chamber of Famagusta, Mr. Augustinos Papathomas, after thanking all those present, expressed his optimism for the implementation of the projects with the consent of the Local Government, the Famagusta MPs and the Famagusta Chamber. He stated that the Famagusta Chamber of Commerce and Industry will continue to support the free province of Famagusta with all its strength.
In his statements, Augustinos Papathomas described "the meeting as successful, since the EBEA plan for the development of the province was presented. An interesting discussion took place and opinions were exchanged by the present MPs, Mayors, Community Leaders and other actors of the region".
He added that “the difficult part is now the implementation and implementation of this plan. We have asked everyone to contribute their suggestions until the beginning of November and we hope that on November 17th, when the annual General Assembly of the Famagusta Chamber will take place, we will have a more concrete plan, which will be ready for action".
At the same time, he expressed the wish and hope that "this time we will succeed".
The event took place at the Famagusta Municipality Cultural Center in Deryneia.
