The Mayor of Paralimni Theodoros Pyrillis announced today his independent candidacy for the position of Mayor of the new Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia, in the upcoming June municipal elections.
In his announcement, the Mayor of Paralimni, referring to the Citizens of the new Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia, states that "for the last twelve years, we have been fighting together and fighting to give provincial status to the Free Province of Famagusta. We aimed at sustainable development and progress, executed tens of millions of projects and succeeded in moving all government services to the province where they belong. We have developed and are implementing a major strategic plan for the future we deserve. We operated with complete equality, equality, transparency and meritocracy."
Referring to the reform of Local Government, Mr. Pyrillis speaks of challenges that require seriousness, responsibility, determination, reliability, trust and experience. More specifically, he states that "the reform of Local Government creates new challenges. Challenges for much that remains to be done. Challenges that need a vision that turns into action. Challenges that do not need promises and populism. It takes seriousness, responsibility, determination, reliability, trust and experience".
Concluding the Mayor of Paralimni in his announcement, he says "with this in mind, I announce today my independent candidacy for the position of Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia in the upcoming June municipal elections. For a new Municipality where everyone will be equal, with the same rights and the same obligations. For a new Municipality where solidarity, support and equality will prevail, regardless of whether the citizen lives in a more municipal apartment. For a better Acheritou, for a better Frenaros, for a better Deryneia and a better Paralimni. For the place we deserve. For the place our children deserve".
