The Eighth Mediterranean Archery and Para-Archery Games, held in the municipal district of Frenaros in the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia, have concluded.
The Games which lasted four days from 24-27 October were a huge success mainly due to the many participations, despite the war in the Middle East, but also the many athletes who competed in Olympic and Paralympic Games, which added even more glamor to this great sporting event.
It is worth noting that the missions stayed mainly in the Pernera area, while the competitions were organized in the Municipal District of Frenarous of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia. The sporting event, in addition to advertising our region and our Cyprus, economically stimulated the region, which was just before the end of the tourist season.
More than 300 athletes, coaches, judges, agents, escorts and volunteers were for more than a week in the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia gaining wonderful impressions from the Cypriot hospitality, from our wonderful beaches and beautiful locations. It is underlined that the Cypriot Archery Federation got excellent once again in the organization of the Games, while the presence of the volunteers with their distinctive jerseys and their appetite and energy proved that when you have a will everything is possible.
As far as the competitive part is concerned, this took place at the Municipal Stadium of Frenarous, which from Monday 21 October began to take shape based on the requirements of the regulations of this exceptional sport. It is recalled that in Frenaros there is already an Archery department with more than 20 athletes, while the Olympic Archery Training Center of Famagusta has also been built there.
At the modest closing ceremony, since the opening ceremony, as has been emphasized by all the local media, was really impressive, the Mayor of Paralimni, and the Deputy Mayors of Frenarous and Aheritou, Municipal Councilors, the Romanian consul, and many sportsmen were present factors.
