With a sense of responsibility and pride, the Famagusta POED and the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia honored the Hero Teacher of the EOKA Liberation Struggle 1955-59, Fotis Pittas.
The Memorial Service, which took place at the Church of Archangel Michael, was presided over by His Holiness Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta, Mr. Vasileios.
The memorial speech was delivered on behalf of the President of the Republic, Mr. Nektarios Karyos, while a greeting was delivered by the President of the Hellenic Football Federation, Mrs. Myria Vassiliou.
After the Memorial Service, a tribute was paid to the hero's bust with the Famagusta Music School's Michalis Hatzimichael and the Principal of Frenarous Primary School, Mrs. Chrysoula Sardalou Zouvani, embellishing the hero's memorial event with an artistic program. This was followed by the presentation of personal stamps dedicated to Fotis Pittas, which were made in collaboration with the Cypriot
Post offices and wreath laying with the event concluding with the National Anthem.
During the Memorial, the Police Philharmonic played.
