A month has passed since the death of the traditional singer and organist Elias Kouloumi and rare documents are coming to light, reminding us that the works left behind by the ambassadors of tradition are not touched by the wear and tear of time, but remain alive in our memories and in mosaic of our tradition.
A rare video from April 2000 with Elias Kouloumis and Giannis Laoutaris was posted on his YouTube page by his son Elias Kouloumis, Michalis.
The two traditional organ players appear to perform traditional melodies on lute and violin in the courtyard of the great traditional violinist, Giannis Laoutari in Avgorou. A unique meeting of two musicians who served and honored the tradition of Kokkinochoria, but also of our entire island.
May their memory be eternal and may their souls rest in a paradise of melodies.
