PASYKI is sounding the alarm about the progressive weakening of the Famagusta General Hospital, referring to the recent resignation of two Doctors - Pathologists from the Pathology Clinic, a fact, it states, that "cannot leave us indifferent and nor can we become complicit through our silence."
In a statement, PASYKI states that this fact exacerbates the already serious shortages in human resources, resulting in the remaining doctors being under enormous pressure, taking on a disproportionate workload with potential impacts on the treatment of patients.
He speaks of "wrong administrative choices, behaviors and interventions on the part of the hospital's management, with the support of the Larnaca - Famagusta Directorate and the tolerance of the central administration of OKYpY" which lead to "undermining the smooth operation of individual clinics, as well as the hospital in question."
Famagusta General Hospital is a reference point for an entire region with special needs, due to its geographical location and even more so its semi-occupied character, reports PASYKI.
"Its progressive weakening cannot be ignored and raises serious questions about the future of public health in the region. The responsibility of those who make decisions, but also of those who choose to remain inactive, is now clearly evident," he concludes.
