The critical issue of drought in the primary sector in the Mediterranean states will be at the center of the work of the MED9 Agriculture Ministers' meeting on Tuesday.
The main work of the Ministerial Meeting, on "The threat of drought in the primary production sector in the Mediterranean Member States", is scheduled to start at 9.15 am on Tuesday, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment of Cyprus, Maria Panagiotou. The European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Janusz Wojciechowski, will also participate in the work of the Synod.
Then, at 12.30 pm, the European Ministers participating in the meeting are expected to hold a press conference.
The Synod, which takes place with the participation of the Ministers of Agriculture of Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Malta, Portugal and Slovenia, is hosted in the province of Famagusta by the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment of the Republic of Cyprus, as presiding country of the MED9 informal cooperation for the year 2024. It is the first coordinating working meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of the nine Mediterranean EU member states.
