The former Minister of Transport, Yiannis Karousos, submitted his candidacy for the position of President of the Famagusta Provincial Self-Governing Organization.
By submitting his candidacy, Yiannis Karousos will put his vision for the development and modernization of Famagusta to the judgment of the citizens of his province.
Yiannis Karousos is nominated for President of the Nicosia Provincial Self-Governing Organization by Theodora Kyriakou from Frenaros, supported by Celia Hatzichristou from Agia Napa, while his mother, Eleni Stavrou Tsokkou, will be present as a witness.
As his statement:
It is with particular joy and excitement that I submit my candidacy today for the presidency of the Famagusta Provincial Self-Governing Organization, carrying with me a vision for a province that will stand out as the ultimate destination for living, working, and raising our children, as well as as a destination that attracts year-round visitors and investors.
Today, with the signature and support of three powerful women – Theodora Kyriakou from Frenaros, Selia Hatzichristou from Ayia Napa, and my beloved mother, Eleni Stavrou Tsokkou as a witness – I pay tribute to every woman who is active in every sector of society. I address a symbolic message to all mothers, wives, sisters, grandmothers, today's hard-working woman, business woman, and mothers who face greater challenges raising children who need the help of the state, as they belong to groups of the population who need special care. I promise that I will be by their side to support their efforts, as I have lived their problems and concepts. With my candidacy we will shape a better tomorrow.
Let's join forces to create a province where our children will want to live and create, without feeling deprived of opportunities. A province where our youth will have the opportunity to develop their skills and achieve, without feeling that in order to pursue their dreams and goals, they will have to pack their bags to head to other destinations.
My experience and my path from the positions I served are the best credentials for my commitment to promote the common good of our province.
From mayor to minister, I have dedicated my life to serving my country and province, and now is the time to continue that mission with even greater passion.
I have listened and continue to listen to your ideas and suggestions, and combined with my own perspective and with vision and experience I will contribute to creating a common future for all of us.
