The Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. Giorgos Nikolettos, is currently at the International Tourism Exhibition "World Travel Market (WTM)" held in London.
During his presence at the largest tourism exhibition in the world in which the Deputy Ministry of Tourism also participates with its own stand, Mr. Nicolettos had the opportunity to arrange together with the President of PASYXE Famagusta Mr. Panagiotis Constantinou and the Director of ETAP Famagusta and Giorgos Kavkalia meetings with the heads of the main tourism companies, such as TUI, Easy Jet, Jet2, HotelBeds, WebBeds and others.
According to Mr. Nicolettos, the indications and pre-bookings for the region in the new year seem to be very satisfactory with an expected increase in tourist traffic and especially the British market.
He also stated that the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia will intensify its promotion abroad as well as participation in tourism and special interest exhibitions, such as wedding, nautical and sports tourism, with the aim of strengthening new markets.
During the contacts, the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia had the opportunity to discuss proposals, suggestions and ways to increase the number of visitors to the tourist resort of Protaras and to the province of Famagusta in general, while the issue of extending the tourist season was also thoroughly discussed, with the heads of the travel companies to look positive on the matter of extending the period in principle until November 15, 2025, but the actions of the competent bodies continue for a further extension.
It is noted that the Deputy Minister of Tourism, the President of PASYXE, the Director General of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism as well as hoteliers are also present at the International Tourism Exhibition in London.
