The Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. Giorgos Nikolettos, had a meeting with Dr. Vasiliki Tsoukala, Professor of the School of Civil Engineering and Director of the Port Works Laboratory of the National Technical University of Athens, in Athens.
During the meeting, the possibility of conducting a study by the NTUA on the erosion observed on Fig Tree Bay beach and examining ways to restore it was discussed.
A tour of the school's facilities was then held to investigate simulation research carried out by Ms. Tsoukalas' team, which examines the impact of climate change on the coastal zone.
Mr. Nikolettos stated that the Municipality's goal is to preserve the coastal front and for this reason, the preparation of a study to find ways to restore and protect the Municipality's beach, as well as other collaborations, is being considered.
