Our school teacher, Therapon Therapontos, participated in the seminar “Integrating AI in the Classroom with Critical Thinking”, which took place in Budapest from January 20 to 25, 2025. The seminar was organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ program by the Europass Teacher Academy and focused on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to enhance the learning process and critical thinking of students.
The objectives of the Seminar were to help teachers to:
✔ Understand current trends and developments in artificial intelligence for education.
✔ Develop lesson plans that integrate AI into teaching practice.
✔ Use AI to promote student critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
✔ Assess student progress through AI tools.
✔ Explore educational technology tools for more dynamic and interactive learning experiences.
Seminar Program:
The first day of the seminar began with a general presentation of the program, during which participants were informed about the course content, methodology and external activities of the week. Through familiarization activities, a climate of cooperation and interaction was created, while an introduction to artificial intelligence was then given, with an emphasis on how it works and the basic principles that govern it.
On the second day, teachers engaged in the use of artificial intelligence in the classroom. An analysis of the basic terms and vocabulary related to artificial intelligence was conducted, while special emphasis was placed on prompting techniques depending on the subject matter being taught.
The third day focused on the role of artificial intelligence in shaping digital citizenship and the responsible use of technology by students. Methods for developing critical thinking through the use of AI were presented.
On the fourth day, the seminar focused on the use of AI in lesson planning. Educators explored strategies for leveraging AI in problem solving and enhancing students’ critical thinking.
On the fifth day, participants worked on creating a curriculum that incorporates artificial intelligence. They learned how to use chatbots and other AI tools to increase classroom interaction.
The last day of the seminar was dedicated to the evaluation of the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the week. The seminar concluded with the awarding of Certificates of Attendance and participation in cultural activities.
Conclusions & Benefits for our School:
Participation in the seminar provided valuable knowledge and practical applications that can enhance teaching with the help of AI. The skills acquired will be used to create innovative learning experiences and enhance the critical thinking of our students.
Erasmus+ continues to be an excellent professional development tool for teachers, offering opportunities for international cooperation and exchange of good practices.
