With all splendor, the Famagusta district honored the National Anniversary of the declaration of the Greek Revolution of 1821. The celebrations culminated in the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia, where the Anniversary of the National Rebirth was celebrated with hymns and parades.
The Famagusta provincial parade took place at 11 am along April 1st Avenue, in which over two thousand people participated in formations representing military units, public and private schools, scouts, catechetical gatherings and associations, as well as banners of the Municipalities and Communities of the free and occupied Famagusta province.
During the parade, the “Armonia” Symphony Band of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia played.
The parade was greeted by the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Mr. Nikodimos Damianou, who represented the President of the Republic of Cyprus at the celebrations of the Famagusta district and delivered the Panegyricus of the day, along with the Mayor of Paralimnio-Dheryneia, Mr. George Nikolettos, and the Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta, Mr. Vasilios.
Previously, a Solemn Doxology was held at the Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios Paralimni, presided over by Metropolitan Basil of Constantia and Famagusta.
Early in the morning, a festive parade was held by the Catechetical Synagogues of Agios Georgios, Agios Dimitrios and Agia Varvara of Paralimni as well as the 21st Sea Scouts System and the 291st Air Scouts System of Paralimni, who subsequently performed, together with a military contingent and the “Armonia” Symphony Band of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia, the Flag Raising at the Municipal Hall of Paralimni - Deryneia.
It is noted that the Pandemios Celebration for the National Anniversaries of March 25 and April 1 will take place on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 19:30 PM in the Events Hall of the Paralimni - Deryneia Town Hall. The artistic program and the event are under the supervision of the Paralimni High School.
Also, on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 19:30 at the Xenion amphitheater, the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia is holding an event for the 70th anniversary of the start of the National Liberation Struggle of EOKA 1955-59, with the presentation of the excellent musical performance "Timokypra" by the Romiosini Cultural Association, while on the day of the National Anniversary, on April 1, 2025, a Solemn Doxology will be held at the Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios of Paralimni. The Government will be represented by the Minister of Health, Mr. Michalis Damianos.
