In a climate of emotion, respect and gratitude, the Honorary Event of the Famagusta Teachers' Union in honor of 49 retired and retiring teachers of the period 2015–2026 took place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Di Capilla Seaside Stories, Pernera, Protaras.
The event was dedicated to members of the Famagusta Teachers' Union, who during their educational career served in schools in almost all the provinces of Cyprus, offering valuable work to education, children and society. With this initiative, the Famagusta Teachers' Union expressed its appreciation and gratitude to teachers who served the public school with dedication and contributed substantially to the education of our country.
Greetings were delivered by the President of the Famagusta POED, Mr. Loukas Tsoukkas, and the First Education Officer, Mrs. Irene Hatzilouka-Mavri.
In his greeting, Mr. Tsoukkas referred to the timeless contribution of the honored teachers, emphasizing that they dedicated their lives to children, education and society, leaving their own unique imprint on the lives of thousands of students.
Particularly moving was the greeting of the First Education Officer, Mrs. Irene Chatzilouka-Mavri, who, with a speech full of appreciation, respect and emotion, praised the work and great contribution of the honored teachers. In warm words, she referred to the dedication, ethos and love with which they served education, recognizing the important legacy they leave to children, to public schools and to the education of our country.
During the event, honorary plaques were awarded to retired and retiring teachers as a sign of appreciation and gratitude for their long-term contribution.
The evening was accompanied by a musical program and dinner, offering the opportunity for meetings, memories, emotion and beautiful moments among people who served education with love and dedication.
The responsibility for the organization was the Famagusta POED District Committee and the Famagusta POED Cultural Committee, which contributed to the successful realization of the event.
The Famagusta Teachers' Association expresses its warm thanks to all those who contributed to the successful organization of the event and wishes the honored teachers health, joy and every happiness in the new period of their lives.
