The Police arrested an 18-year-old man yesterday, to facilitate investigations regarding the arrival of a boat in the sea area of ​​Famagusta, in which 10 persons were on board.

The boat was spotted around 1.50pm. yesterday, sailing unruly in Famagusta waters, approximately 12 nautical miles southwest of Cabo Greco. It was stopped by a Coastal and Maritime Police officer and as it was found there were 10 men on board, two of them minors.

Both the boat and its passengers were brought safely to shore.

From the tests carried out, it was found that the boat had sailed from the coast of Syria, early last Saturday, November 19.

According to testimonies obtained, the captain of the boat was the 18-year-old, who was arrested and taken into custody to facilitate investigations.

As for the remaining nine passengers of the boat, upon completion of the examinations, they were transferred to the "Pournara" Hospitality Center.
