The Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment informs the public that it has proceeded with the installation of temporary fencing in the Sea Caves area of the Cape Greco National Forest Park.
This intervention is an immediate measure to address the dangerous activity of cliff diving, which results in serious accidents and creates risks to the safety and physical integrity of both visitors who attempt to dive and members of the rescue teams who are called upon to intervene.
At the same time, the placement of the temporary fence aims to ensure the protection of the area's landform, which shows signs of instability, with the aim of preventing possible collapses and avoiding the concentration of visitors in dangerous areas.
The implementation of the measure was carried out in collaboration with the competent state services, including the Search and Rescue Coordination Center (SRC), the Department of Geological Survey, the Department of Environment, and the Fire Service, within the framework of decisions taken in relevant meetings, with the common goal of protecting human life and the natural environment.
The public is urged to comply with the instructions and signage in the area and to avoid activities that endanger their personal safety.
The Department of Forests will continue to monitor the situation and take, in collaboration with the competent authorities, the necessary measures within the framework of a holistic approach to the protection and promotion of the area.
