A new earthquake occurred in the early hours of Friday in Cyprus.
According to an announcement issued by the Department of Geological Survey regarding the earthquake, the earthquake was 4.9 Richter and had its epicenter in the sea area of Xylofagos, 20 km southwest of Paralimni and a focal depth of 45 km.
The earthquake was felt throughout Cyprus, especially in the epicenter and in the provinces of Larnaca and Famagusta.
Concerns were also expressed about the tourist model "Big Potato".
Everything that the Common Leader of Xylofagos, George Tasos, stated:
"It is a fact that today's breakfast for the residents of Xylofagos was completely different from the daily mornings. The epicenter was reported below the Xylofagu Community.
All the residents woke up scared around 4 and 39 minutes. The eclipse hit the Community. All the residents panicked, got up from their beds, others ran out, others did not catch up due to the short duration of the earthquake, others remained at home.
Fortunately, the quake was not of long duration, it may have been of great intensity but it has been estimated to be around 10 to 12 seconds and therefore no damage has been caused.
At least with all the residents I have talked to and the wider area I have visited, we have not found any losses either in material or human and that is the pleasant thing about all the upset.
Of course, with the end of the earthquake, the inhabitants returned to normalcy.
What I want to note is that, such an earthquake, at least we the younger ones, have not lived in so much intensity and to such an extent and I believe that the divine providence gave the opportunity to all the inhabitants, to live today as the other days going to their homes.
You realize that if this earthquake caused damage it would be incalculable.
The potato was the phone call of many friends outside the Xylofagos community, who asked if the potato could withstand the earthquake.
My answer: It withstands vandalism, it also withstands earthquakes. "
Note that, the work on the potato continues and in a short time it will rise!
