A letter to the Audit Office for an examination of the procedures followed in order to determine any responsibilities regarding the issue of delaying the completion of the works for the operation of the Sewerage System of Kokkinochorion was sent by the AKEL MP, Skevi Koutra-Koukouma.
The Municipalities of Deryneia and Sotira and the communities of Avgoros, Achnas, Acheritos, Liopetri, Xylofagos, Xylotympos, Ormidia and Frenaros participate in the Kokkinochoria Sewerage Complex.
In its response, the Audit Office states that the construction works for the sewage collection networks have been completed in all the municipalities and communities of the Kokkinochoria Complex, however the construction of the Sewage Treatment Plant in Achna had not started yet due to the repeated Hierarchical Refugees. Tender Review Authority and whose decisions were still pending.
As also pointed out, the Audit Service was requested by the WDD, as the materially competent Department, to transmit its positions / views regarding the possible risk of the sewage collection networks being destroyed due to their many years of uselessness and to inform us (after consultation with the relevant Sewerage Council) for incidents of illegal discharge of sewage into the collection network that may endanger public health and the extent of such phenomena.
