The decision to run for the mayorship of the new Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia was announced by Retired Rear Admiral and General Manager of the Agia Napa Marina Kostas Fitiris.
As he states in his post, "my candidacy is independent, because I firmly believe that in the society of every Municipality what is important is only the well-being of the citizens".

Dear fellow residents of the new Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia, friends,
After a long period of reflection and thought, I officially announced today my decision to run for mayor of the new Municipality in the upcoming municipal elections of 2024. My candidacy is independent, because I firmly believe that in the society of each Municipality, the only thing that matters is the well-being of citizens. After a long professional career in very important positions in the National Guard and in the Marina Ag. Napa, I feel the obligation to use all the knowledge and experience I gained from the positions I served in order to contribute to the development of the new Municipality with courage, transparency and honesty. It is very honorable for me to offer that I owe to my special homeland, which is now growing with the integration of other municipalities and communities. I consider it my duty to fight mainly for the youth in this place that survived and continues to resist against the occupation and isolation.
Between today and the elections, my main concern will be the contact with the citizens of all the existing Municipalities and Communities of the new Municipality, Acheritou, Frenaros, Deryneia and Paralimni and the codification of the problems and needs of all the citizens with with the aim of drawing up a documented practical implementation plan for the development of the new Municipality and the well-being of its Citizens in all sectors.
