Employees of the Famagusta Provincial Transport Organization (OSEA), who have been protesting since 5 a.m. for public transport contracts, are at the Nicosia Conference Center and will remain until one in the afternoon.

A written statement from Pavlos Barnava, a spokesman for OSEA's staff, said: "Employees decided last night to take a spontaneous work stoppage and go to Nicosia, demanding continued peace and progress in transport, as has been the case for the last 10 years."
He added that the organization's employees "are deeply concerned about the way in which public transport supply has evolved and the Spanish consortium that is trying to impose on public transport, because they know very well how to handle labor relations".

In his statement, Mr Barnabas sent "a clear message to all involved and urgently calls for respect for the decisions of the Cypriot courts to annul the consortium's offer and the immediate signing of the contract with OSEA."
