The Municipality of Ayia Napa announces that the Carnival Parade "Ti Rio... Ti Leo!" in the Municipal District of Liopetri, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 22, 2026, is canceled.

The decision was made due to the tragic accident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, February 18, 2026, which resulted in the fatal injury of 19-year-old Christina Achilleos from Sotira and the injury of three young people also from Sotira and Liopetri (one of the injured is hospitalized in critical condition at the Nicosia General Hospital), as well as the death of Kyriakos Spyros, who served as an employee of the Municipality of Sotira from 2011 to 2024 and was a football player for years at "Achyronas" Liopetri and "Onisillos" Sotira.

As a minimal sign of respect for the memory of the deceased and as a sign of support for the families and loved ones of those involved, the Municipality of Ayia Napa proceeded to cancel the event.

The Mayor, Mr. Christos Zannetou, the Deputy Mayors of the Municipal Districts of Sotira, Liopetri, Avgorou, Achna and Ayia Napa, the members of the Municipal Council and the staff of the Municipality of Ayia Napa express their sincere condolences to the family and relatives of Christina Achilleos and Kyriakos Spyros and wish a speedy and full recovery to the injured.
