OKYpY issued an announcement in response to the father of 11-year-old Marinos who was involved in a traffic accident last week in Liopetri.

The Health Insurance Organization states, among other things, that the doctors made superhuman efforts to save the life of the 11-year-old and that it does not wish and has no legal possibility to keep a patient in our hospitals without his will or his legal guardians, as in this particular case case.

His announcement as it is OKYPY

Priority for us at OKYPY is the health of the child. We are at the parents' disposal for any help and we wish you a speedy recovery.

The child was urgently transferred to Nicosia General Hospital on Wednesday, October 5 after a car accident. He was immediately operated on by the hospital's experienced neurosurgeons for many hours. Our doctors made superhuman efforts to save his life, as they consistently do every day.

Subsequently, the child was transferred to the Children's ICU of the Makarei Hospital, the only one of its kind in Cyprus, for post-operative monitoring and treatment.

We do not wish and have no legal ability to keep a patient in our hospitals without their will or their legal guardians, as in this particular case.

However, we emphasize our full confidence in the work of both the neurosurgery clinic and the Children's ICU, which have a huge contribution to make, saving thousands of lives, under conditions of suffocating pressure.

At the same time, as an Organization we are determined to thoroughly investigate any complaint about the handling, response or service in our hospitals. It is our duty to provide quality health services to citizens.
