The 5th Pancyprian Carrot Festival, which took place on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Municipal Stadium of Achyronas Liopetri, in the Municipality of Ayia Napa, was completed with enormous success and an unprecedented turnout.
The festival, which has now become established as the biggest celebration of the most delicious and sweet vegetable of the Cypriot land, was crowned with an enthusiastic response from locals and visitors from all over Cyprus. Thousands of people attended to taste culinary creations based on carrots and enjoy a rich program presented by the great artists George Margaritis, Kelly Kelekidou and George Tsalikis.
The event was welcomed by the Minister of Interior, Mr. Konstantinos Ioannou, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, and the Deputy Mayor of Liopetri, Mr. Markos Koumis, who toured the stands, tried traditional products, sweets, drinks and carrot-based dishes, and spoke with producers and visitors.
In his greeting, the Minister of Interior, Mr. Konstantinos Ioannou, stated that the Carrot Festival has now become an established institution for the cultural events of both the Famagusta District and the entire country of Cyprus, where through its organization the carrot is promoted as an integral part of the local gastronomic tradition and by extension the identity of Liopetri.
"The development and support of the agricultural sector," he added, "is promoted by the Christodoulides Government through targeted planning and specific policies."
The Mayor of Ayia Napa, in his greeting, stated that the 5th Pancyprian Carrot Festival was another great celebration of our local tradition and our primary sector. “The massive turnout of visitors, the warm climate, the flavors and the music proved to us that Liopetri and the entire Ayia Napa Municipality have the potential to combine culture with local development.
He also expressed his sincere thanks to all those who worked hard for the success of the event, to the volunteers, the organized groups, the producers, the Municipality staff, as well as to the Deputy Mayor of Liopetriou, Mr. Markos Koumis, for his cooperation and support.
"The Carrot Festival is now an institution, and as a Municipal Authority we are committed to strengthening it every year, showcasing our local products and strengthening the extroversion of our region," he concluded.
For his part, Deputy Mayor Mr. Markos Koumis stated that "the goal of the organization is to promote carrots, which, as he said, is one of the main products produced by the land of Liopetri, a land that is famous for the quality and tasty products it produces due to its red soil."
"Undoubtedly," he continued, "the land itself, no matter how fertile it is, could in no way offer high-quality products if our farmers did not work with passion for their crops."
Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy creations from award-winning chefs, traditional sweets, jams, carrot meatballs, juices, drinks and innovative products such as carrot, carrot liqueur and carrot cocktails, demonstrating the variety and possibilities of this beloved vegetable.
The festival was held under the auspices of the Minister of Interior and was held with the support of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.
The Municipality of Ayia Napa and the Municipal District of Liopetri warmly thank all the contributors, participants and the public for their universal participation and support of the institution.
