We live in the age of being seen…

In the age of image, social networks (facebook, twitter, instagram) and the only thing we no longer meet, they are down to earth people. Unfortunately, we get to the point where we see nothing but photocopied girls, who are essentially advertising themselves, thanks to their expensive, fashionable clothes and extravagant makeup. They do not care about anything but their image, an image that concerns either their life, or their situation or their character, but which is not true. You see them melting in the gym just to get a perfect body and not because they are interested in the health part. Young people who are only concerned with protein supplements and muscle.

Most of our graduates refuse to do anything other than their subject matter and all they do is waste their time watching life: singers, actors, athletes, politicians, businessmen but also in soubise divas of nothing and nothing. The fact that everyone wants to become an influencer is also shocking.

So in the age of bigotry and beauty…
Fortunately, there are still young people, such as Theano, who have not been seduced by the exaggeration of the time and stand with their heads held high. They value what they have and remain firm in their beliefs and principles. They learned to evaluate differently and set realistic goals. They know that "is" must play a bigger role than "appear". They have realized that money is just a means to an end. The rest, the luxury and everything that accompanies it, are unnecessary and as history has shown so far, they never went well. They know that happiness is not there…

Theano Savva reports on Ant1.com.cy:
"I was born on February 1, 1994 in Liopetri and I have 10 brothers. My father is a shepherd and I have been by his side since I can remember. I helped him feed, milk, clean the paddock, and even shear the sheep.

When I was little I did not like this job but I went because I did not want to spoil my father's forehead. Later, growing up, I started to like it. I loved animals and when I finished high school, my father registered me as a breeder.

The rest of my brothers chose other professions. My younger brother used to come with us but then he went to study.

Faithful to tradition and with love and passion for animals, just before I was 18, I took over the herd - there were more than 1000 sheep and of course always with my father by my side -. I did everything: I fed them, milked them, took them out to graze, cut them and gave birth to them. I was driving the tractor and helping to cut and tie hay bales.

Honestly, I was never ashamed of my job! I was glad to see how much my father was proud of me, that all my friends never spoke disparagingly to me, on the contrary, they were happy for me. Even the people of the village showed me their love every day with beautiful words and sweet smiles.

I became attached to animals and I loved nature…
In fact, I gave 2 sheep a name and as soon as I call them, they run near me. We play together as if they are human beings.

It was very hard and hard work but I endured because I loved it. I always said that people can hurt you and make you cry but animals never!

But 8 months ago…
I made the decision to go to study. I have always loved cooking, it was my dream. So, I left the animals and put my bow somewhere else…

I enrolled in the Technical School of Paralimni, which started operating as a Hotel School in 1984.

I am no longer a shepherd…
Now I study and work at the same time. I'm a cleaner in a cafeteria. It will seem funny to you but as I clean, I watch how they make the coffees and now they make me make them. Of course, I often go to the paddock and see my animals.

No job is a shame as long as it is honest, I believed that and I will always believe that. I was never ashamed to be a shepherd but not even now that I am a cleaner.

I have never envied anyone, I am well with myself and I have always argued that: people who want to achieve their goals and make their dreams come true, must fight and not expect everything from their parents.

As for myself, I have always watched and watched him, I do not forget that I am a woman. But I do not like exaggeration, I never wore branded, expensive clothes, nor was I fascinated by expensive bags and intense makeup. I learned to appreciate what I have and I am happy. I know it's the content that matters, not the wrapper.

My message…
Just dare to be yourself and follow your instinct. Do not compare yourself with others. Follow your own path and stay true to your goals. "Stop waiting and need others to like you, only then will you be truly happy!"
