The Foundation Stone laying ceremony for the construction of the Missing Persons Park took place on the afternoon of Tuesday 28/05 in Liopetri. The laying of the Foundation Stone was done by the former Minister of Transport Yannis Karousos.
In his speech, the Mayor of Liopetriou Vassos Manolis said that "in 1995, in the context of the creation of green spaces, the idea was born to make this spot a forest in honor of the Missing Persons of our community during the Turkish Invasion. Along the way, the idea for a leisure park evolved."

He noted that "the project is expected to have immediate social and economic benefits for our Municipality, as well as the residents of the wider area. The citizens will soon have at their disposal an area that will be a point of reference for rest, sports, food and recreation. At the same time, the project will contribute to the promotion and, by extension, to the increase of traffic in the community."

Its total construction cost is 750.000 euros and it is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Liopetri.

The project consists of 2 Phases and is expected to be completed around the end of 2025.
