Our great dialect poet and writer, Mr. Pantelis N. Kakolis, was recently honored – At the initiative of the Pancyprian Club of Folk Poets and Friends of Poetry and the Liopetri Community Volunteering Council, our great dialect poet and writer, Mr. Pantelis N. Kakolis, was recently honored in his birthplace, the Municipal District of Liopetri.
The rationale for his award, as stated by the organizers, is his rich literary work, his great contribution to dialectical poetry and literature of our country, and his great cultural and social contribution within and outside Cyprus, as well as the many distinctions and awards at local, Pancyprian and international levels.
During the event, his friends and associates spoke about his writing, his new poetry collection "Nineties" was presented by Dr. Kostas Kotsonis, where attendees had the opportunity to enjoy excerpts and poems set to music, while Deputy Minister of Culture Dr. Vasiliki Kassianidou awarded him an honorary plaque for his overall and substantial contribution to the Culture of our country.
In his greeting, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, congratulated him and thanked him for what he has offered to date to his place and especially to his beloved Liopetri, as well as for what he will still want to offer in the future.
He wished his new poetry collection "Nineties" a safe journey and that he continue to enrich Cypriot poetry with even more works, in which the Municipality of Ayia Napa will be a companion and ardent supporter.
Greetings were also delivered by the member of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Sports and Youth, Mr. George Karoulas, the President of the SKE of Liopetri, Mr. Vasos Christodoulou. The expatriate, Mr. Andreas Stavrinos, also spoke.
The event was musically graced by the "Pilgrims" Musical Group.
