The 11-year-old boy who was seriously injured on October 5 in the settlement of Liopetrio is in a better condition.
The neurosurgeon Dr. Vassilis Zerris who came from Athens to Cyprus following the initiative of the Ministry of Health in order to support the efforts of the doctors.
Dr. Zerris reported that the child was very seriously injured, he had a severe brain injury with increased pressure inside the skull. "He was in a very critical condition and colleagues tried to do what they could."
Continuing, he said that the Ministry called them to help as much as they can in the treatment of the child. "Fortunately, he is doing well. The first samples show that he will survive, he has started to open his eyes, he is breathing on his own and I think we are going in the right direction."
He emphasized that it is an honor for the Ministry of Health as it stands by the patients. "I see how many patients they send abroad," he said.
Finally, he mentioned that all the doctors who dealt with the incident are trying for the best. "We as a point can do something. From then on, God helps."
It is recalled that the vehicle, driven by his 57-year-old grandmother with his 11-year-old son, deviated from its course, went off the road and initially hit a tree and then a wall of a residence, causing it to overturn.
As a result of the collision, the 11-year-old minor was thrown from the windshield of the vehicle and ended up on the asphalt.
Both were taken by ambulance to Famagusta General Hospital and then the 11-year-old due to the severity of his injuries was intubated and transferred to Nicosia General Hospital.
