Kokkinochorion High School: Represented Cyprus in a Panhellenic Student Conference (PICTURES)

Foti Pitta Kokkinochorion High School participated in the Panhellenic Student Conference entitled "Dialogue or clash of cultures? 2500 years since the battle of Thermopylae and the naval battle of Salamis ", presenting the section" What is the role of young people in the peaceful coexistence of peoples ".

The online Conference, organized by the Athens College and sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Religions, was attended by 65 schools from all over Greece, Portland, USA and Cyprus.

"As students, teachers and the Director of the Lyceum of Kokkinochorion Fotis Pitta we feel proud that we had the opportunity to represent Cyprus as speakers at the Panhellenic Student Congress, proving once again that our School, despite the adverse conditions due to the pandemonium to operate both live and remotely, in spite of the times, giving both students and teachers the opportunities and incentives for knowledge, learning, creativity and reflection.

The students of the Lyceum of Kokkinochorion Fotis Pitta presented their presentation on February 12 and closed the conference in the best way, after giving messages of militancy and peaceful coexistence. Among other things, they stressed that peace is a level of civilization and you become worthy to rise to the idea of ​​peace, when you have, before going through stages of internal civilization.

Young people as key players in consolidating a culture of peace can shape perceptions and attitudes of life, engage in social participation, take initiatives, adopt democratic principles and cultivate a peaceful ethos, in order to contribute substantially to peaceful and creative co-operation. individuals and peoples.

Drawing new standards and values ​​from history, tradition, arts, sports, scientifically and technologically trained, they will resolve intercultural differences with dignity, avoiding the violence of war, and contribute their innovative ideas to promoting a secure, , peaceful and progressive society.

In closing, they referred to the important role of the young people of Cyprus, who are still experiencing the occupation with all its consequences, pointing out that what is required for them is to ensure their freedom in a peaceful environment. The presentation closed literary and artistic with lyrics from the poem "Peace" by Giannis Ritsos.

The promise of the students of Kokkinochorion High School, through their presentation, was that they will continue to fight, to form mentalities, to face the rhetoric of hatred and violence and to develop a peaceful speech that will promote the universal values ​​".
