On Sunday 06 October, the delegations of the two Cypriot Municipalities attended the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of Agios Panteleimonos in Androni, where a speech by the Mayor of Lysis followed.
Mayor Lysis referred to the struggle that the Cypriot people are carrying out today for the restoration of their rights and thanked from the bottom of his heart the Mayor of Lemnos Mrs. Eleonora Georgi and her Municipal Council, for the love with which they surrounded the mission of Cyprus in Lemnos. Andreas Kaouris stated that "the non-resolution of the Cyprus issue is an open wound for the entire Cypriot people, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots who are anxious for the restoration of their universal human rights".
After the Divine Liturgy and in an atmosphere of deep emotion, there was a memorial service at the Cypriot Fighters Memorial in Androni and the laying of wreaths. The highlight of the Cypriot delegation's visit was the parade that took place on October 08, the anniversary of the liberation of Lemnos from the Turks, when from the official platform they saw the Lemnos dance group marching in front of them, with its standard bearer carrying the Cypriot flag and a banner with the Slogan "50 YEARS OF OCCUPANCY. I DON'T FORGET."
