The Mayor of Lysis, Andreas Kaouris, accompanied by the Secretary of the Municipality, Katerina Parpounas, visited yesterday in his office the Metropolitan of Kiti, Mr. Nektarios, with whom they discussed issues of the Municipality of Lysis that are related to its metropolitan area, where thousands of Lysio refugees live.
In a spirit of mutual respect and understanding, the Most Reverend Metropolitan showed a lively interest in the Municipality of Lysis with which, as he said, he has close spiritual, friendly relations for the additional reason that he has family roots from the neighboring village of Arsos in the province of Larnaca.
The Municipality of Lysis thanked the Metropolitan for his presence at the various events of the Municipality of Lysis, but also for his general interest in the problems faced by Lysio refugees.
The Mayor asked the Metropolitan to make his presence even more frequent, despite his increased obligations, at the events of the Municipality.
A particular topic that was discussed and the Metropolitan showed great understanding is the relations of the Lysiotes with the local churches in the areas where Lysiotes live.
The Municipality of Lysis thanks the Metropolitan of Kiti for the warmth with which he embraced the issues raised by the Mayor for the Municipality of Lysis and as a token of appreciation and respect he handed him a plaster portrait of Elder Panai Ilamiou, whom he met before he even followed the steps, as a symbolic gift of the priesthood and often visited him in the settlement where he lived, together with his brothers Vassilis and Tryfonos.
