A delegation of the Municipality of Lysis visited the settlement "Afxentio", in the Municipality of Abdera, Prefecture of Xanthi, which took its name from the Cross of Macheras, Grigoris Afxentiou, hero of the national liberation struggle of 1955-59 '.

An announcement of the Municipality of Lysis states that the delegation attended the Festive Vespers and the Divine Liturgy for the feast of the patron saint, St. Demetrius, while then, wreaths were laid at the Monument of Heroes of Lysis, erected in honor of the hero Gregory of the struggle originating the Solution.

Afterwards, the delegation was guided to the Center for the Promotion of the Folklore and Historical Unity of Thrace - Cyprus "Grigoris Afxentiou", where an honorary plaque was presented to the Mayor of Abdera.
