The Metropolitan of Constantia-Famagusta, Vassilios, is appealing for the observance of the measures to avoid the transmission of the coronavirus through today's circular.

The circular itself:

To the pious crew
of our Holy Metropolis
Constantia and Famagusta.

Dear children,

In recent weeks, our country, like all of humanity, is experiencing an outbreak, a "second wave" of the coronavirus pandemic. The rapid increase in cases in recent days is of great concern, as there is a risk of an increase in the number of patients in hospitals, to the point that hospitals and Intensive Care Units are not able to deal with all cases.

As believers we have a great moral and spiritual responsibility, so as not to contribute to the spread of the virus, especially to the elderly and vulnerable groups. That is why I warmly ask that all the measures that have been set for the holy temples be strictly observed:

  1. Keep the distances between the faithful both in the seats inside the temple and outside the temple, during all the sacred services, as well as when attending the cemetery.
  2. The use of the mask is obligatory in all interiors and consequently in the holy temples, in all the sacred services and sacraments.
  3. The use of antiseptic is very important when we enter the temple.
  4. When attending Holy Communion, keep a distance of two meters between the faithful standing in line.
  5. Believers who show any symptoms (fever, cough, runny nose, etc.) are asked to be confined to the house and not to attend the sacred services.
  6. At funerals, families are asked not to receive condolences.
  7. It is also best to avoid gatherings at home after funerals and memorials for coffee and to be confined to a close family environment.

My dear,

In two months we will have the celebration of Christmas and no one would want to relive the sad situation with the closing of the temples we experienced at Easter. For this reason, I ask you all again to observe all the above precautions, inside and outside the temple.

Following parental wishes,

The Metropolitan
