Ayia Napa Monastery: Campaign to collect archival material

Invitation to the public for archival material from the Holy Diocese of Constantia-Famagusta

The Cultural Academy - Research Center "Agios Epifanios" and the Holy Diocese of Constantia and Famagusta carry out a research program to collect archival material. The aim of the program is the collection, archiving, digitization and disposal of archival material related to the modern and contemporary history and activity of the Monastery of Ayia Napa. 

The archival material collected contributes to the wider effort of recording, preserving and promoting the cultural and religious heritage of Cyprus, material and intangible. The archival material seeks to highlight the Monastery of Ayia Napa as a carrier of this heritage and as a living monument and place of ecclesiastical life and social interaction through the centuries.

Individuals and organizations that maintain relevant material are invited to make it available. The material may include:

  • Photos and audiovisual material of the building facilities of the Monastery
  • Photos and audiovisual material from inside the temple
  • Photos and audiovisual material to capture social events that took place at the Monastery (weddings, baptisms)
  • Photos and audiovisual material to capture the ecclesiastical life of the Monastery (festivals, festivals, pilgrimages)
  • Photographs and audiovisual material that capture the social offer and action of the Monastery (as a destination for educational excursions, as a place to host primary school halls, as a conference center, etc.)
  • Manuscripts and documents related to the Monastery
  • Maps
  • Works of artistic interest (engravings-engravings, drawings, sketches, etchings, lithographs, woodcuts)
  • Books

Procedure for disposing of archival material:The owner of the material (analog or digital) signs a special agreement with the Cultural Academy "Agios Epifanios" and the Holy Diocese of Constantia and Famagusta.

The archival material provided in analog form is digitized and returned to its owner, unless he requests some other special arrangement.

The owner of the material reserves the Copyright of his material, unless he requests some other special arrangement.

The source of the material is mentioned in each case of use of the material.
