The death toll from the shipwreck that occurred off the coast of Cyprus on Monday has reached seven, according to information from the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), while the Ministers of Defense, Vassilis Palmas, and Justice and Public Order, Marios Hartsiotis, arrived at the Search and Rescue Coordination Center (SRC) shortly before 6 pm.
The wreck was located around 30 pm in the area XNUMXNM southeast of Cape Greco, within the Search and Rescue Area of Responsibility of the Republic of Cyprus (Nicosia FIR) and outside territorial waters.
CNA reports that so far seven dead and two rescued have been recovered from the more than 20 people who appear to have been on board the boat.
In a statement issued earlier by the JCC, it was stated that the operation is underway under the coordination of the JCC and that a warship, a helicopter and an unmanned aircraft of the General Directorate of the Navy, four vessels of the Port and Maritime Police, a Police helicopter, nurses of the OKYpY Ambulance Service and personnel of the Cyprus Police are participating in it.
