Following the first test of sending a text message (SMS) with self-protection instructions, the Ministry of Interior informs that today, March 6, 2026, a new test of sending text messages to citizens per District will be carried out.
After the first test, the necessary technical adjustments were made by the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy in collaboration with telecommunications providers, in order to improve the message sending process.
Specifically:
The test mission will be carried out gradually from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. as follows:
▪ Pre-paid (without address): 4:30 p.m.
▪ Paphos District: 5 p.m.
▪ Famagusta District: 5:30 p.m.
▪ Nicosia District: 6 p.m.
▪ Larnaca District: 6:30 p.m.
▪ Limassol District: 7 p.m.
The message that will be sent will indicate the District to which the potential incident relates.
It is clarified that messages are sent based on the address that each subscriber has declared to their telephony provider and not based on the location where they are at the time of sending.
Therefore, subscribers located in a different Province than the one registered with their provider will receive a message relating to the Province of their registered address.
