"Young people need intubation; vaccination is the only weapon against coronavirus"

People aged 35, 39 and 46, who became ill with coronavirus, are among the patients treated by intubation in the Intensive Care Unit of the Famagusta General Hospital, which operates as a Referral Hospital.

In her statements to KYPE, Amalia Hatzigianni, Scientific Director of the General Hospitals of Larnaca - Famagusta, said that "today 65 patients are hospitalized in the Reference Hospital, 9 of which in conditions of Increased Care, as they need closer monitoring. The youngest patient who is hospitalized is 24 years old and the oldest is 90, while the average age of the patients is 59 years ".

According to Ms. Hatzigianni, "daily admissions are made to the Hospital and discharges are given, while people under the age of 50 need intubation. "Out of the 65 people who are hospitalized, only 6 people have been vaccinated, ie four with the first dose and two with the second dose of the vaccine".

Answering a relevant question, he said that "the condition of the patients in the Intensive Care Unit is very serious, while there are also people who needed intubation. "Among the patients at the MAF are people aged 35, 39 and 46 who have not been vaccinated," he said, adding that "if these people had been vaccinated they would not have needed to be intubated."

Amalia Hatzigianni sent the message that "vaccination is the only weapon against the coronavirus, since most of the patients who are taken to the Intensive Care Units, have not been vaccinated".

It is noted that 25 patients with coronavirus are treated at Larnaca General Hospital, one of whom is in the Intensive Care Unit.

In addition, the Eden Rehabilitation Center in Tersefanou hosts 90 people who will remain until their complete negativity.
