The fourth lecture of the Salamis Free University of Famagusta was held with great success on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Holy Metropolis of Constantia and Famagusta in the presence of Metropolitan Vasilios of Constantia, the Mayor of Paralimni and several friends of the institution.
The speaker was the Deputy Minister of Immigration and International Protection, Nikolas Ioannides, who developed the "Migration issue: basic principles, management and problem solving"
The rapporteur focused on the fundamental principles governing the migration issue, highlighting the challenges that states are called upon to face – with particular emphasis in the case of Cyprus – in managing migration flows. At the same time, the policies implemented at national and international level to protect the rights of migrants and refugees were presented. Particular emphasis was given to practical strategies for solving problems related to migration, covering issues of social integration, legal framework and international cooperation.
The discussion was moderated by the Director of the Office of the Deputy Minister of Immigration and International Protection, Dr. Lambros G. Kaoullas, who encouraged a fruitful dialogue between the speaker and the audience.
