The progressive Cypriot people, despite the great difficulties they have faced through the centuries of their history, have never stopped hoping but also fighting for a better future.

Since 1960, the Republic of Cyprus, as an independent state, despite its small geographical and population size, has been trying to establish itself in the European and world arena.

The European orientation of Cyprus and the need for its accession to the EU was based on the belief that the member states are supported by institutions that operate on the basis of international law, human rights and the rule of law.

In 2004 our country became a full member of the European edifice and since then it has accelerated its pace, in order to further modernize and become a model state.

Our world is changing faster than ever. In the midst of global political developments, the countries that will be the first to find the innovative formulas for adapting to the changes that will take place will be the ones that will lead the future of world political chessboard.

The political life of the place has the responsibility, after being voted by the people, to lead Cyprus forward. The responsibility of those who are in politics towards all those who expect something from them is enormous. This, after all, is what I thank the citizens who elect them and honor them with their vote of confidence.

Parliament is an integral part of our regime and is the voice of the Cypriot and the Cypriot. Consistency, constant presence, assertiveness and credibility undoubtedly play a huge role and the real work must start with the election and beyond.

As an Aristide MP candidate with the Democratic Alarm for the Province of Famagusta, I am convinced that Parliament has an obligation to inform the citizens about the work produced by each elected Member of Parliament, serving full transparency.

In view of the above, I quote my view on a way of evaluating the work of the People's Representatives. I do not believe that everyone is excellent or that everyone is apathetic, but people have the right to know what every Member who's obliged to promote the interests of the people does or does not do.

Therefore, like every citizen, I suggest:

  1. To have access to data where he will see the nominal presence or absence of the deputies during the conduct of the Committees where they are members.
  2. To know by name which MP votes for, votes against or abstains in any bill or bill.

With the above suggestions, I firmly believe that the transparency to the citizens will be improved, since they will be informed and will know the movements and actions of their Representatives.

In addition, based on the above, an evaluation table of the parliamentary action can be created, based on the consistency, the continuous presence and the active involvement, submitting draft laws, asking questions and participating in the voting.
