Reference Hospital: 80% of patients with coronavirus have no vaccination history

80% of patients with coronavirus, who are treated at the General Hospital of Famagusta, which operates as a Reference Hospital, have no history of vaccination, said Amalia Hatzigianni, Scientific Director of the Larnaca-Famagusta Hospitals, at KYPE.

He added that "today (24/1) 57 patients are being treated at the General Hospital of Famagusta, of which 16 in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as they need closer monitoring. The average age of the people being treated is 66 years old, the youngest patient is 31 years old and the oldest is 93, both without a history of vaccination ".

He noted that "80% of patients admitted to the Referral Hospital have not received the coronavirus vaccine. The Larnaca General Hospital is currently treating 35 patients with Covid-19, of which 5 in MAF conditions ".

The Eden Rehabilitation Center "hosts 113 people positive for the coronavirus, while 29 patients are treated in the Post Covid ward. "Both people who were positive for the coronavirus, who will be released after ten days, according to the protocol, as well as patients who were treated in the Post Covid ward, are expected to be discharged today, Monday."

In a relevant question, Mrs. Hatzigianni replied that "the admissions of patients with coronavirus began to stabilize, despite the burden received by the MAF and especially the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia. "The situation is manageable," he said, sending a positive message that "even a small percentage of vaccinated patients admitted to public hospitals are protected from serious illness and death."

He also described "vaccination against him as very important Covid-19, since "as he explained" from the data available to scientists and doctors it turns out that the vaccine protected the population. Besides, from the hospitalizations that exist in the Hospitals of Cyprus, it is clear that both the morbidity and the mortality are reduced ".

Regarding the vaccinations in the free province of Famagusta, Mrs. Hatzigianni said that "they continue at the same pace, that is, every day they go to the Vaccination Centers to receive the 1st, 2nd and 3rd dose of the vaccine, about 400 people. The vaccination of children aged 5-11 continues as intensively, since about 60 children go for the vaccine every week ".
