The employees of the Reference Hospital justifiably request and have the right to work in conditions of safety and adequate staffing, reports the General Nursing Staff of PASYDY.

Regarding the issue that arose with the staffing of the Famagusta Hospital / Reference Hospital, the Board of Directors of the Branch states that the adequate staffing of departments that treat patients positive in the covid-19 should be calculated on the basis of the experiences of colleagues working in these departments taking into account the specificities of the patients in question.

Colleagues, he says, of the Reference Hospital justifiably ask and have the right to work in conditions of safety and adequate staffing and adds that since last March these colleagues are fighting a relentless battle taking care of professionally but also with humanity our fellow citizens who had the misfortune to get sick.

"The statement by OKYPY that the conditions do not allow us to adequately staff the various departments but mainly the statement that the staff will not be allowed to take any day off beyond one day entitled to the week, finds us completely opposed. We note that the fatigue of the staff is very obvious and the risk of collapsing is beyond visible "it is noted.

They ask the Ministry of Health and the OKYPY "to finally understand that we are dealing with an unprecedented situation and in a framework of mutual respect and understanding to join forces to be able to face the common enemy."

The Board of the Branch states that it will re-study the issue of staffing and will submit its position to OKYPY.
