Lifeguards play a crucial role in protecting human life on beaches. OEKDY – SEK, led by Secretary General George Constantinou, visited beaches in Larnaca and Famagusta, talking to workers in the sector and recording problems and needs up close.
Seasonality, equipment shortages, understaffing and non-contribution from certain local authorities make up the daily routine of a demanding and responsible profession.
OEKDY - SEK continues its interventions with documented proposals, aiming to ensure decent working conditions and enhance safety on beaches.
