The sloppiness of the Government, the "half measures" and the strong reactions

Strong reactions have been observed in the last hours by the citizens, mainly on social media, for the measures announced by the Government. According to the general feeling that prevails, the new, stricter measures have only succeeded in creating restrictions on people who until now were formal and adhered to the measures. In particular, the restrictions on the New Year's Eve table, has only resulted in isolating families that under normal circumstances would comply with the measures and would not exceed the number of ten people. This way, for example, families from three different houses, even if they did not exceed ten people, would be forced to separate. On the other hand, the measures that were in force until yesterday, failed to prevent the gatherings of ten people from different houses, while according to various complaints, in addition to the images that saw the light of day in Stasikratous with the crowd, many in our country were cases with parties, gatherings and overnight stays of friends in homes which led to the spread of the virus.

Why not lockdown?

The question that arises from the citizens who react is, if a partial lockdown has been imposed, why not impose a complete lockdown in order to have a radical treatment of the virus? That is, since schools, restaurants and the public sector remain closed, hotels and tourism businesses have long been forced to close, retail outlets are down and many of our fellow human beings are forced to live with the help of Social Grocery, because is there no general lockdown required to address the spread? On the other hand, of course, the ability of the Government to grant the corresponding allowances in case of lockdown plays an important role, while one should not forget that from the beginning of the new year the installment suspension will be lifted and citizens will have to face impatience banks to receive their, to date, frozen installments.

The inability to deal with the negatives

And while at the beginning of the pandemic what prevailed was the safety of the citizens and the majority demanded a general lockdown, the constant changes in the measures, the collapse of the economy, the plight of a large number of our conspirators who were forced to lock their businesses and be led in unemployment, has gradually brought about the anger of citizens. The image of a society that is even partially (if not unilaterally) reflected in social media, proves an ever-increasing anger of the citizens both for the general management of the fight against the pandemic, and for the economic misery that is observed to a large extent and to a large portion of our fellow citizens. And while in the capital the picture of the economy may not be pessimistic, the sad picture seen in the province of Famagusta with 90% of shops closed and the remaining 10% underperforming, restaurants have been hit hard and hotels many of our fellow human beings have been forced into unemployment and many of them do not even receive benefits and face starvation in the middle of the holidays and farmers are unable to sell their agricultural products, then it is obvious that the Citizens' reaction can be considered justified. On the other hand, at a time when the Government is engaged in constant confrontation with the deniers, it does not seem to take the appropriate drastic measures to radically deal with the pandemic, while throwing into the arena the epidemiological team that tries with scientific evidence and evidence to refute the reaction and the anger of citizens who have justifiably been exhausted by the ever-deteriorating situation.

The hunt was "loaded" by the Police

The whole situation that has been formed, has caused the most reaction of the citizens against the Police, which has been charged with hunting the citizens for the observance of the measures. And while the people of the Police are also struggling in the midst of a pandemic and at the risk of their own safety and health, nevertheless they have borne the brunt of the burden, since they are in the front line and hear the… from the carriage from the citizens being reported.

Health professionals can no longer stand it

On the other hand, it is worth noting the exhaustion that the people of the front line have suffered. Doctors and nurses, mainly from Famagusta Hospital, have been literally exhausted from their almost ten months of incessant battle with the pandemic. People who risk their own health, who are forced to leave their families for a long time, who provide patients with, among other things, psychological support, are also secondary, as the ever-increasing number of patients, anything but optimistic can to provoke. In total, 154 patients of the disease are currently being treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 42 in serious condition. Of the 42 patients who are critical, 20 are intubated, five are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 17 to an intensive care unit.

In fact, based on the data of rapid test checks, the province of Famagusta seems to maintain a stable lead with 5,97% positivity today, and 7,11% yesterday.
