The hosts issued an announcement regarding the very serious incidents that took place on Saturday afternoon after the Division B football match between the Paralimni Youth Union and the Omonia May 29th Sports People's Association, condemning the incidents and sending a message of seriousness. Hooded men who were in the stands of the guests attacked the fans of the Crimson, injuring a police officer and destroying with stones dozens of cars that were parked outside the stadium.

The following is the announcement of the Board of Directors of the Paralimni Youth Union:

"A dark day for Cypriot football, a black day for Cypriot society.

We experienced this too, pushing women and children, babies falling from strollers, fans and a policeman at the Famagusta Hospital.

All this because we tolerate them first as a society, as a State and as organized groups.

At the end of today's match, a match that took place in a very nice atmosphere created by the fans of both teams, a team of 50 hooded men, obviously under the influence of substances, alcohol and we do not know what else they could have consumed, broke the police cordon and went up to the stand where the team fans were, throwing stones, breaking cars and hitting whoever was in front of them.

We do not want this football, gentlemen, we are not afraid of you and we will not succumb to terrorism!

WE REFUSE to continue to cover the known strangers hiding in the crowds. We will hand over any information we have to the police and we will proceed with relevant complaints.

WE DEMAND from the Police and the State in general, to arrest even the last hooded man who went up in the stands of our team, who caused damage to the cars of our fans and football players and to our property.

WE ALSO DEMAND everyone to realize the seriousness of today's (4.12.2021) episodes and to act immediately!

We will be next to both the KOP and the State.

WE DEMAND immediate decisions and measures to make it truly the last time anyone experiences what we have experienced today.

We were very disappointed to find that some people tried to downplay the current episodes and blame people who are trying to make a living.

We will not be afraid of anyone, we will not hide in the crowd!

Meetings were held, rumors and posts circulated the week before the match and we took as many measures as we could as a team.

As an Administration we have made enormous efforts to bring small children and families to the stadium and we will not allow some thugs and some who want to protect them to ruin what we have built with a lot of effort!

Finally, we must mention that the official Omonia of May 29 was by our side in the effort to repel the thugs and protect the women and children who were in our stands.
