After work to shape the area with fencing and the installation of an entrance gate by the Department of Antiquities of the Deputy Ministry of Culture, the Neolithic Settlement "Nissia" in Protaras was opened to the public.
The site includes the remains of a settlement from the Neolithic period, which were excavated on the hill overlooking the beach of Vyzakia.
With the new layout, visitors now have the opportunity to approach the archaeological site and be informed through signs with informative and visual material about life in the Neolithic village and the findings of the excavation. The site is open to the public from today, Monday, July 28, 2025.
The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia wishes to thank the Deputy Minister and the Deputy Ministry of Culture, the Director, the Service and the entire Department of Antiquities for the opening of the Neolithic Settlement, which remained closed to the public for 35 years since its excavation.
